This walk-in spiral installation reflects on the fragility of memory, identity, and the passage of time, especially as it relates to aging. Inspired by the artist's volunteer work in nursing homes after her grandmother’s passing, it draws upon her experience conducting olfactory tests with residents in the early stages of dementia, when smell remains one of the last memory triggers.
The installation incorporates scents that evoke moments of remembrance, acting as invisible threads connecting participants to forgotten or distant memories. Each scent functions as a mnemonic trigger, revitalizing fragments of personal histories.
Through its tactile and immersive nature, the installation becomes a metaphor for the human desire to reconcile with the losses brought on by time, evoking broader questions about how age-related memory loss can parallel societal amnesia about forgotten ways of being.
